Glacial Erosion/Glacial Valley

Previous | Home | Next

Formed as a cirque is formed. The erosion from the action of a large glacier will carve out a valley that is U-Shaped. This is as a result of the total bottom of a glacier to carve the valley adverse to the singular carving of a river valley which forms a v-shape. Note the tallus deposition in glacial valley. Freezing and thawing of the slate/shale causes it to break off in flat pieces and to deposit at the bottom of the incline.
